Allow non utf-8 piped input in Alpine
Patch is available for version: alpine 2.00 alpine 2.01 alpine 2.10 alpine 2.11 alpine 2.20 alpine 2.21
You can use this patch to warn Alpine that input from a pipe is not encoded in UTF-8. The default is that input from a pipe must be encoded in UTF-8 for Alpine to interpret it correctly. With this patch, you can make Alpine interpret correctly an input that is not in UTF-8.
In order to use this patch, you need to add the -noutf8 flag in Alpine. For example, if a file contains characters not encoded in the UTF-8 character set, we would use a command like
cat file | alpine -noutf8to send the input file to the body of a new message to be composed.
